The fabric is an essential part of our products. They are not only in direct contact with a child’s skin, but they must also protect him from external atmospheric agents and withstand wear. Fabrics are subjected to certain tests to assess these characteristics. The Martindale test is one of these.

The “Abrasion and pilling test”, or the answer to the questions “How resistant is this fabric to wear?”, “How resistant is it to breakage?”, “And
what about pilling?” During this test, fabric samples are subjected to cycles of continuous abrasion.

Special machines are used and the results are assessed by specialist personnel. Here is a short video that explains how the test works.

The cycles are pre-set in terms of duration and abrasion pressure. The test must be carried out on at least three samples at the same time. The test ends when the first pilling ball appears and when the first thread breaks during the resistance assessment.

The number of cycles required to produce a worn sample is the test result (e.g. 20, 00 Martindale cycles).
