According to ISTAT, every year in Italy about 5600 women deliver twins and 280 deliver triplets. There is an increase in the number of fraternal twins linked to the new fertility treatments. You are not alone… although the idea of bringing up not one child but two (or three, or four, or more) may, at first, cause you to panic a little.

Parents of twins say that you get over the shock quickly and you soon start to feel extremely happy. The practical issues may still be worrying but the Net has plenty to offer.

There are a number of sites and web communities for parents of twins that can offer useful advice. IlMondodeiGemelli.it is an association created and managed by the parents of twins and triplets who have years and years of experience. They can help ‘newbies’ deal with all sorts of things, be it weaning or starting school. “It is not easy to raise twins,” warn the creators of Gemelli-it.org. They offer chats and forums, which are excellent opportunities to share problems and receive advice.

A glimpse of everyday life with twins is provided by the blogger father of two twins, who spoke about his feelings and the adventures with his girls. “After the birth of our little princess, I really felt I had had the best life can give (...),” he wrote. “But fate had a second ‘first time’ in store for me - I was to become a father again, a father of twin girls! I must admit, I was mistaken."
